Vila do Condo upon first sight looks nice. It’s on the river and the square with the flowers is really nice. Once you go out of the square and into the town you see that it is very run down and unkept. The local youths didn’t take kindly to our accompanying teenage football team and on one evening chased a group of them out of town threatening violence towards them. This is one location I will not return to

Vila do Conde is a pretty town on the coast.
Vila do Conde is a pretty town on the coast. Easy to get to from Porto on the Metro. We also had a day out to Povoa de Varzim on the metro which is just a couple of stops away.
Vila do Conde has a few interesting museums relating to its history and development. Lots of opportunities to walk, a number of beaches and plenty of restaurants and bars, a great place for a short break in the sunshine.

The places we liked most in Vila do Conde were: a) the top of the hill with an old monastery and the 16th century aqueduct (2nd longest in Portugal), with a great view of the historic center; b) a truly wonderful restaurant -- REPUBLICA -- at 83 Praca da Republica, both food and service were great, and the interior is very pleasant; and c) within a 3-minute walk from the restaurant the Naval Construction Museum and a replica of a ship outside from the Age of Discoveries.

This is more of a guest house .
This is more of a guest house . It is above a bistro, There was no breakfast and when bistro was closed no one to provide assistance. The location is excellent across the street from the river with access to walk to shore. Staff was friendly and helpful when available. We chose it as it is on the coast north of Porto and close to the airport. Room and bed were small, but comfortable. We stayed only one night so it met our needs. Interesting town to explore.

Great little town, seems to have a lot to offer if you like quiet little towns. Not too built up, nice small town feel to it. We didn't have time to explore much - yet - but will definitely come back
This is a luxury hotel - the room was so comfortable and stylish and the location was right in the centre of town with fantastic views. The breakfast was lovely too. I didn’t expect to have such great value for money - breakfast included in the very modest price. This guesthouse is far superior to a 5star hotel we stayed in recently. I really loved staying at Autor Guesthouse.
Rui met me at the property. It was a delightful place with plenty of room. A gorgeous view of the ocean and just across from a promenade that went for miles. As it was off-season, it was quiet. Near some restaurants and close to Lidl. An easy walk to the Friday market. Great host and great stay. I think this is one of the top 3 places I've stayed in Portugal over the years!
I was made to feel welcome, as I was going to a appointment at the hospital, the lady at reception explained to me , where it was located, I found the staff to be pleasant and curtious at all times.
The room was very clean, I enjoyed the bath, I slept very well, the bed was very comfy.
The hotel was in a great location, I had a balcony overlooking the river.
Excellent location near the river and great restaurants and as a bonus right on the El Camino The architectural design is very creative combining the new and modern interior while preserving the very old exterior. The owners created a very comfortable space in what normally would seem challenging. That alone is a reason to visit.
Vila do Conde is a charming town and the location of the apartment was perfect, 10 minutes walk from a lovely beach with a very good cafe nearby. We were met by Maria who was very kind and helpful and showed us around the large, comfortable apartment which had everything needed for self-catering including a large fridge/freezer.
The hotel is classy and modern without being pedantic. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and flexible (late departure, bike rental,...). The facilities are confortable and clean (spa, room, lounge,...). The breakfast is generous.
This was our favorite hotel along The Camino! The staff were very friendly, the room was great and the facilities were wonderful! The steam room, sauna and pool were great after a day of walking. We would definitely stay here again!
There was a problem with Author Guesthouse. The elevator was not working so there was no way to get to our room. The host graciously booked us at a nearby hotel, but it wasn't nearly as nice
