Of all our stops on the Camino from Sarria to here (...
Of all our stops on the Camino from Sarria to here (currently in Melide), Palas de Rei was the least interesting or exciting. Still, it had hidden gems in a hostal we found to eat dinner (there are not a lot of options) and returned for breakfast on our way out. Also, the laundry mat was a big plus and the driers worked really well. Dried a lot of clothes for 3 euros. Just have to ask around for change. The bar next door and the grocery store behind were so helpful.

A great place to stay, relax , have a well earned siesta after long walk from Portmarin 24.6 kms + Probably quieter in October when we visited but still found a good restaurant "Meson a Forxa" and had a delicious meal after 7 - early for Spanish but filled up rapidly . Lots of Camino walkers took break here.

Restaurants are very good and reasonably priced. 10 euros are enough for a person per day to be happy and even to try a milk sucking lamb baked in owen.

Small interesting town on the camino trail route (St James), not a lot to see but a good selection of bars and restaurants.
A few shops selling all sorts of things, so you could find what you need if required.
The hosts were absolutely superb at this hotel. They saw us arriving and came out to help us with our bags and immediately opened the garage to store our bicycles. This means so much when you arrive tired, cold and wet. Later the woman at reception rang the baggage transfer company and reassured us that our bag would be collected. The room was warm, the beds were comfortable, lots of hot water for a bath. Perfect
A beautiful rural hotel. It was off the track of the Camino. I walked to it on the day of my arrival but the next morning the owner drove me back to my starting point on the Camino. Room very comfortable. Delicious dinner at the hotel. Quiet and lovely. Would be a lovely stop for a couple. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming and accommodating. Would certainly return if I have the opportunity.
Lovely albergue. Easy check in, very friendly hospitalero. I loved the bunks with curtains for extra privacy, you also have your own power socket to charge your phone. The place was tidy and comfortable. It has a bar are and a big common room where you can socialize with other pilgrims. 10 mins walk to centre of Palas de Rei where you can do your shopping or have dinner. Easy!
Hospitality, friendliness, family run pension. Right along the Camino from Palas de Rei to Melide about 3 km outside of Palas de Rei. We ate dinner and breakfast (fresh squeezed Orange Juice) there and bought waters for the next day. Also had lovely wine with dinner. Oh and probably the best water pressure we have ever had.
Lovely clean hostel right on the path of the Camino. Private space in room with curtains between beds. Very clean throughout. Bakery adjoined to the hotel which did lovely pastries for breakfast. Large area to wash and dry clothes. Friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful setting and wonderful hotel, we really enjoyed our stay here. Had a great dinner on the terrace. We had an attic room in the main building, it was spacious and had air con. Staff were all lovely and very helpful and friendly.
Excellent hosts - great, individual and exclusive location! Very good dinner and breakfast. it is my third camino and this is one of the best hotels with outstanding hosts. And they have by far the best Santiago cake - home made ;)!
The location and setting of this lovely farmhouse was perfect for our night on the Camino. It is family run and so it felt like home away from home. They served us the best meals that we ate during our entire time in Spain!
Very nice pension, the rooms were lovely. The staff was very nice, the rooms were very clean. Love the little gummy bears and special gels for the bath. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Very good location.
You don’t need a great wifi if you have the chance to talk to Mario! This is better than lots of 5 stars hotels that I have stayed. He opens his home to people and you feel like you are home
Absolutely loved our stay. The apartment was conveniently located near the start of the Camino De Santiago, as well as to restaurants. The apartment was huge and spotless.
Room very clean, Cozy , staff extremly helpful.(I needed an extra room, not available there; but manager help me to find that other room in another hotel nearby ) .
Very friendly staff, a beautiful and quiet yard with lawn chairs, and the best meal you can get on the Camino—and one of the best meals I’ve had in all of Spain.
Close to laundromat, restaurants and Camino de Santiago, which we were walking. Had a bit of trouble finding it. The man who checked us in was very kind.
