The people in Pontevedra were lovely. Very friendly & helpful. Food & drink were value for money & always good quality. It feels very ‘Spanish’ & not too touristy. Totally recommend for a mainland stay.

Pontevedra is a very pretty city.
Pontevedra is a very pretty city. The old town area is large and stylish and has all the tourist needs like amazing food and drink places, accommodation, markets and shops and it's been fully pedestrianised. Also is surrounded by amazing beaches and trekking paths.

Pontevedra has a charming old city center, with its two-storied houses and its porticoes. As a pilgrim, I recommend a visit to the cathedral and to the monastery complex, and a casual stroll about the streets. Though I know there is much more to see and to do in Pontevedra besides passing by. There are restaurants for every taste, ranging from fast food and pizzas to the local gastronomy, which is very rich and tasty - the fish and the octopus. If there is one thing I really didn't like (at all), it was the bus station, which looks abandoned. If you must travel by bus, you'd better go directly to the bus parking place and try to find someone to talk to over there - or ask a bus driver.

Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit.
Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed - so a great place to go if you want to get away. It has history, culture and the walk along the river is priceless (either for sport or just to relax). The people are great too. Pontevedra is a great city to walk in (you can tell there's been a big push for pedestrians in preference to cars!)

Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail.
Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail. Lots of bars & restaurants, especially in the old city. Did a trip to the Atlantic coast which was well worth the effort. Stunning views out to the islands.

Pontevedra to us is a hidden gem not only of Galicia but the whole of Spain. It is very beautiful and almost traffic free which means wandering around and visiting the many historic buildings and the fabulous shops and bars makes it just about perfect. It also is very convenient for travelling to the many wonderful coastal areas and the mountains. There are also riverside walks around the town so plenty to see and do. Perfect!
I was saturated and cold when I arrived. They rushed through the preliminaries (passport etc) and shoed me to my room. The hot shower (shared bathroom) was a life saver.
The room was minimalistic and clean. Comfortable enough, but who travels to stay in a room. Cafe's, restaurants, bank's, supermarkets and bars were in very close proximity. The Camino route was very close and easy to find. Something of a luxury in Spain.
The wind was howling outside, but the room temperature was comfortable enough to wear t-shirt and shorts.
I stayed in the separate women's dorm, a bit pricey but worth it. It was super clean and the sleeping pods were cozy and new, looked a bit space-age, one of the best stays on my Camino. It was in the heart of Pontevedra, which is a large city, so everything was in walking distance. The gal at the reception was welcoming and took the time to show me around everywhere, even though I knew she was busy. Appreciated the individual showers, about 5 of them. There was also a lovely sitting area inside and outside.
The front desk staff were super nice and accommodating to our requests (taxi, extra water, help with washer and dryer). The location cannot be beat. It’s right on the old section and walking distance to the Pontevedra church and restaurants. It’s also right on the Camino Portuguese trail so you can see when pilgrims start walking in the morning.
The welcome we received and the helpful advice made us feel at home right away. It’s been as tough year for Camino hostels and hotels but the Slow City Hostel made sure our stay in Pontevedra was the best possible. It’s not big, but the shared kitchen and lounge area are a good place to chat with other travelers in comfort.
Everything. The hostel had a good location, was exceptionally clean and the standard more of a hotel than a hostel. Some great extras, such as laundry and breakfast too. If you are going to Pontevedra, you can't do better than stay here. Gracias a Julio por todos sus esfuerzos - y dále las gracias a tu madre también!
Very good buffet breakfast considering it is a 2 star hotel! Good views. Varied range of products and cooked eggs are offered as well. No offer of gluten free products nor non-dairy. Bathroom towels surprisingly new, soft and extra large. Pool towels are also provided upon request. Staff very friendly and helpful.
This is a very comfortable hotel. Nice comfortable room with a private outdoor space. Mice lounge with views and a pool. Great breakfast with fruit, eggs, cheese, meat, yogurt and all sorts of bread and pastry selections which is difficult to find in Spain as breakfast here us usually just a roll and coffee.
The hotel was perfectly acceptable for our needs. Clean and comfortable with very helpful and friendly staff. They have reasonably priced parking and the hotel is only 5 to 10 minutes walk from the historical centre. We didn't try the breakfast so cannot comment on that but only because we wanted to eat out.
The staff, hands down! Carlos, Ana. Simone. Made us feel at home. Served wonderful meals, arranged a taxi, saw to all our needs. The hotel is relatively remote in location - but that was its strength. Beautiful views. Quiet, peaceful, we had the best sleep. Rooms (bed, shower, outlets) were comfortable.
This is a really nice place right in the heart of Pontevedra. The owner was super helpful. I would highly recommend this place. One of the best places I stayed at while hiking the Portuguese Camino. Again, I would highly recommend this place. Loved it!
Julio (owner) went above and beyond with his hospitality. This was better than any hotel I could have stayed in. I would highly recommend staying there if you are in the area. I look forward to going back!
it's hard to find anything wrong with this hotel. Breakfast was amazing, Menu Del Dia in a 4 star hotel just 15 euros!!!!! Staff were all friendly and helpful. Could'nt fault a thing! Will Return.;
it was a decent hotel and at the end of a LONG day of walking the Camino de Santiago it was great to relax in a good tub. Our floor had elevator access which was good.
